The Circle Singers marked their 40th Anniversary in the year 2000 with special millenium Concerts. The choir gives regular performances in aid of charitable causes and sometimes sings outdoors during the summer months at historic houses throughout the Midlands. In November 2005, it joined with other local musicians in a special concert or Leamington Town Council, marking the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. In April 2006, 'Circle' undertook its first overseas tour, giving well-attended concerts to mark the Mozart 250th Anniversary, jointly with local choir Musica e Parole, in Vibo Valentia and in the Cathederal at Tropea, near the 'toe' of Italy.
Later that year, 'Circle' repeated the Mozart items at Concerts in Coventry and Sutton Coldfield, coupled to secular music by Brahms. In May 2007, 'Circle' gave two successful Spring concerts, and in July we welcomed our friends from Italy, with whom we performed (and recorded) the Faure' Requiem in Leamington; plans are afoot for the choir to visit Italy again in 2009.
The Circle singers, whose regular accompanist is Lynne Adams, will be singing on Sunday afternoon 14th September at a Heritage Day at Middleton Hall, nr. Tamworth (free admission). Further details about the choir are available on this website.
