eresford King-Smith
has been the Musical Director of the Circle Singes for the past fifteen years, since he retired in 1993 after 30 years as a senior administrator with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestras. Besides composing music, mainly for choirs, Beresford is the CBSO's Archivist and the author of its official history, Crescendo
and was for many years Chairman of the Midlands Early Music Forum, which organises workshops and other events for singers and instrumentalists, throughout the area. His Psalm Symphony, written in 2005, received its first performance in November 2006 in Sutton Coldfield; it was performed again in March 2007 by the Birmingham Choral Union in the Adrian Boult Hall, and a further performance, which he conducted himself, took place in April 2008 in Sheffield.
